The British Queen, a quaint traditional freehouse pub in the village of Meldreth.

Situated just outside Cambridge & Royston, we are in a fantastic location and easily accessible. The village of Meldreth can be found on the King’s Cross line, which means we welcome visitors from far & wide who make their way to our popular pub. We are also hugely supported by our wonderful local community, helping to create a lovely, fun & friendly atmosphere.

Tom & his team go out of their way to provide a friendly & relaxed vibe for all our guests, alongside our fantastic team of hardworking staff.

You’ll find the bar well stocked with a wide range of spirits & beautiful, hand-picked wines, all of which complement our menus fabulously. We also serve a great selection of well-kept beers, including regularly changing guest ales.

We pride ourselves on being a traditional village pub, serving homemade food using locally sourced ingredients. Alan, one of the owners, keeps pigs & lambs which are reared for our menu. You may even spot them enjoying the River Mel & its beautiful surroundings on the pub’s five acres of land.

Our menus can be found here on the website for you to have a little look at, as well as our specials board, located in the main bar. This is regularly changed to showcase homemade, seasonal dishes. As everything is homemade & cooked to order, our staff are more than happy to accommodate your needs wherever possible.

The pub itself sits within five acres of beautiful grounds, with a glorious riverside walk & plenty of green spaces to sit & enjoy. We also have a large tepee with its own private bar, making it perfect for private functions & celebrations. It’s a wonderfully versatile space that really lends itself to all kinds of events.

Upstairs, we have a beautiful dining room with an undercover balcony. So, whether you’re looking for an intimate space for a private dinner party, birthday celebration or baby shower, we have you covered!
